Mabon

The Threshold

At Mabon, balance returns - briefly.

What has grown now reveals what no longer fits.

This threshold asks:  What feels smaller not because it changed - but because you did?

Magdalene Posture:

Mary Magdalene has spoken what she has seen. She has carried the message entrusted to her.

What happens next no longer belongs to her.

  • Some believe.

  • Some question.

  • Some turn away.

She does not measure the worth of her offering by the response it receives. She has learned that faithfulness and outcomes are not the same thing.

She gathers what has been given. She releases what is no longer hers to carry. She rests in the quiet confidence that truth does not require her constant tending.

The second harvest invites us to pause. The frantic work of growth has slowed. The first fruits have already been offered. Now comes the quieter work of noticing.

  • What endured?

  • What proved true?

  • What nourished life?

  • What simply took up space?

  • Not every effort becomes wisdom.

But every season offers something worth gathering.

Mabon invites us to receive the harvest beneath the harvest. Perhaps it is gratitude that has grown deeper than success. Perhaps it is a relationship that has become more honest. Perhaps it is the quiet realization that who you have become matters more than what you have accomplished. Maybe it is even the realization that what you thought would be your reality has now changed into an entirely new shape. This is both the blessing and the heartbreak of harvest - releasing what we hold dear and blessing it as it goes.

This is not a season for judgment.

It is a season for discernment.

  • To gather what is life-giving.

  • To bless what has served its purpose.

  • To leave behind what no longer needs to be carried.

This threshold asks a quiet question:

What wisdom has this season placed in your hands that you are now ready to carry forward?

The Practice

  • Remove one object, practice, or assumption that no longer belongs.

  • Thank it.

  • Do not replace it.

What to Notice

  • Notice where space feels honest.

  • Notice what falls away without struggle.

What Not to Do

  • Do not fill the gap.

  • Absence is part of balance.

Journal Prompts

Mary Magdalene does not pursue reunion. She remains in truth, even without restoration of relationship.

• What am I being asked to release in order to remain in balance?

• Where does holding on create subtle imbalance?

• Can I allow something to fall away without resistance?

• What is shifting naturally, even if I would prefer it not to?

• What does it mean to trust the rebalancing without managing it?

What is quietly redistributing itself?
